MacPherson Twirls Blues to Shutout Win Thursday, August 24th , 2062 The Brooks Fighting Pheasants had no answer for Missouri Blues pitcher Sam MacPherson. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 6-0. Brooks managed only 5 hits off MacPherson, who had 5 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular MacPherson got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Blues fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
