It's Over: Crush Stop Cumberland
Monday, April 30th , 2063
The hitting streak that Billings second baseman Gael Cumberland had kept going for 24 games was ended by the Boulder Crush. Cumberland was stymied over 4 at-bats, but the rest of his team picked him up, getting the 7-1 victory at Panthers Ballpark.
"Hitting streaks come and go," Cumberland said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."
To date, Cumberland has collected 32 hits for a .291 average. He has posted no home runs, scored 13 runs and driven in 7 runs.
