Lumpkin Slaps 5 Hits
Saturday, May 12th , 2063
Folsom Foxhounds center fielder Esteban Lumpkin had a day to remember at Pacific Railroad Park, ripping apart the Council Bluffs Express and sparking the 5-4 Foxhounds win.
Lumpkin wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-8.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Lumpkin told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Esteban Lumpkin singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 11th, grounded out in the 12th, singled in the 14th and hit a solo-shot off Luis Castaneda in the 17th.
A look at his season totals shows Lumpkin with 7 home runs, .285 BA, .336 OBP, 25 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
