The Frontier League announced today that Omer bin Wasim has been chosen the Leonard Puckett Pitcher Award winner for 2062. The Charlottesville starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 11-2 record.
In his award-winning season bin Wasim crafted a 2.15 ERA in 79.2 innings with 57 strikeouts and 9 walks. Opposing batters hit .225 against him in his 13 starts.
He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 32. Firas Ahmed of the Traverse City Talons finished second in voting with 13 first place votes, while Roberto Pérez of the Bartlett Jazz finished third with 2 first place votes.
