But despite joining the select list of sluggers to hit three home runs in a game, it didn't guarantee a victory. The Union Carbide Dows fell to the Gamblers, 18-7. In his big day at Assassins Ballpark, the Union Carbide third baseman went 3-for-5 with 6 RBIs and scored 3 times. "It was just one of those days," he told BNN sportswriters in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball. "You would think three homers would win most games. It was good to hit 'em, but a win would have really made my day." Stefano Rubbi hit a solo-shot off Brendon Barth in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Brendon Barth in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Fernando Morrill in the 9th. For the year, Rubbi has hit .351 with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 30 runs. |
