Troup Torches Fires for 5 Hits
Tuesday, January 2nd , 2063
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Bob Troup said his club's tilt with the Firestone Fires "felt almost like batting practice." The 14-year-old shortstop went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Berkshire Hathaway Wolves, who were topped by the Fires, 27-14.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Wolves manager Pedro RodrÃguez said. "Sometimes Bob is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
Bob Troup singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
