González 6-for-8 for Oilers
Monday, January 15th , 2063
A jubilant Francisco González joined the postgame press conference at Ballpark of Lindstrom HS to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Pillsbury Doughboys pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Exxon Oilers third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 6-for-8 hitting performance, which led to the 32-7 Oilers win.
"He made it look easy," said Leo Davis, manager of the Doughboys. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Francisco González hit a three-run home run off Bob Kunz in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
On the year, González is hitting .356 with 21 hits, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, .458 OBP and has scored 20 runs.
