Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Martínez
Sunday, February 4th , 2063
Win or lose, Alonso Martínez just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games.
The Allis-Chalmers Engines left fielder went 1-for-6, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated, 14-4, by the Ford Motors at Ballpark of Jersey City HS.
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Alonso Martínez struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
This year, Martínez is hitting .382 with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .517 clip and scored 43 runs.
