Largent Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 38 Sunday, February 4th , 2063 The Texaco Stars lost to the POS Portal Machines, 9-5, at Fissures Ballpark, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Tom Largent's 38-game hitting streak. The first baseman went 0-for-2 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Largent, we would win the game," Machines manager Vicente López explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." At present, Largent is batting .450 with 59 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 42 runs and scored 35 times. |
