Berkshire Hathaway Stops Martínez Hit Streak Tuesday, February 6th , 2063 IBM center fielder Felipe Martínez came into today's game against the Berkshire Hathaway Wolves on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Wolves did their jobs well, beating the IBM Machines, 11-6, and holding Martínez hitless to snap his 24-game hitting streak. The 15-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Felipe did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Machines manager Kendrick Roberge. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 24 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." Martínez has collected 36 hits for the Machines this year, 2 of them home runs. He has also netted 22 RBIs and scored 20 runs while batting .360. |
