Lucero Batters McDonalds for 6 Hits Saturday, February 10th , 2063 After a 6-hit effort to lead Vanguard's 34-12 victory over the McDonalds Big Macs, first baseman José Lucero told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the High School All-Star Teams-level is really something special." The 17-year-old player earned his accolades at Huntington Beach HS Grounds with a spectacular 6-for-7 game against the Big Macs. "His swing is getting there," said Voyagers skipper Zhen-ying Meng, who spoke glowingly of Lucero after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. José did that to perfection." José Lucero walked in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Jaime Mendoza in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Juan Maldonado in the 8th.
