Metcalf Tags Big Macs for 5 Hits Monday, February 12th , 2063 Texaco catcher Werner Metcalf could do no wrong, but the Stars could. Metcalf collected 5 hits against the McDonalds Big Macs, but he couldn't will Texaco to victory. The Stars fell, 23-20, at Ions Ballpark. "I did all I could, but one man can't win a baseball game," Metcalf said later. "It's a shame we couldn't get the win." Big Macs manager António Robles said Metcalf had things working "in his favor" every time he came to the plate. "We couldn't keep him from getting ahead in the count and once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get better pitches to hit," he explained. Werner Metcalf hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 5th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
