Martínez Boosts Hit Streak to 33 Games Tuesday, February 13th , 2063 The streak is alive and well -- at least for today. Alonso Martínez did it again, bashing 3 hits in the contest at Ibises Ballpark. For the last 33 games in a row, the 15-year-old left fielder has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Allis-Chalmers Engines beat the Shell Oil Royals, 15-11. "I'm happy I kept the streak going," Martínez told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Allis-Chalmers clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Alonso Martínez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th. For the season, Martínez is hitting .409, batted in 39 runs with 10 home runs and 56 runs scored. |
