Lucero on Fire, 5-for-7 Against Exxon Tuesday, February 13th , 2063 Today at Newark HS Grounds, José Lucero put on an impressive display. The Vanguard Voyagers first baseman tagged Exxon pitching for 5 hits in 7 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Exxon Oilers by the score of 14-12. "The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Lucero said. "5-for-7 ain't bad in any league." Despite the terrific performance, the Voyagers manager was unwilling to offer the first baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses. "José told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Zhen-ying Meng said. José Lucero flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
