Hit Streak for Martínez Reaches 34 Wednesday, February 14th , 2063 Alonso Martínez has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The Allis-Chalmers left fielder picked up 2 more today against the Shell Oil Royals and now has a 34-game hitting streak. The Engines won the game, 7-3. "Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being." Alonso Martínez grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Errol McClintock in the 9th. This season, Martínez has delivered 72 hits in 176 at-bats for a .409 average with 11 home runs. He is getting on base at a .535 clip and his totals also include 42 RBIs and 57 runs scored.
