3-HR Day for Castro
Wednesday, February 13th , 2064
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Silvertips Ballpark, as Jesús Castro of the Dr. Pepper Surg unloaded three times against the Harley Davidson Rebels but was still bumped off, 11-10, by the Rebels.
"We were lucky to win today," said Harley Davidson skipper Aleixo Bago. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Dr. Pepper first baseman had 5 hits in 7 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.
Castro spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Jesús Castro singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Júlio Valdés in the 8th, hit a two-run home run off Dan Louis in the 9th, hit a solo-shot off Armando Padilla in the 12th and grounded out in the 14th.
Currently Castro is batting .319 with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs.
