Great Stroke: Jenkins Gets 5 Hits
Friday, February 4th , 2061
Sydney Devil Bears first baseman Carlos Jenkins had a day to remember at Bears Ballpark, ripping apart the Tarawa Sun Kings and sparking the 13-2 Devil Bears win.
Jenkins wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Jenkins told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Carlos Jenkins hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
This year, Jenkins is batting .409 with no home runs.
