Killers Heading to Round 2
Thursday, February 24th , 2061
The Tonga Killers didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Honiara Islanders in the Round 1 tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 7-6 win moving the club on to the Round 2, clinching a 4-2 series win in front of the Caribou Ballpark crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a Round 3, so it's an important step," said Kuauli Corowa as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Corowa was named series MVP, as he hit .417 with a .483 on-base percentage. He had 5 home runs, drove in 11 RBI and scored 7 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Islanders sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Tonga celebrate.
The Tonga Killers will play against the Perth Galaxy in the next round. Perth won their series against the Pago Pago Chiefs 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
