Big Day with Bat: Knecht 5-for-5
|
Herbert Knecht was sizzling at the plate. The Marriott second baseman blistered the U.S. Coast Guard Bears for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but couldn't prevent his club from falling to defeat, 26-22.
"Knecht was too tough to get out today," Bears skipper Pedro Cantú said in a postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too. But hey, I don't mind if every game somebody gets 5 hits off us, as long as we win."
Herbert Knecht doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Stephen Grondin in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Knecht is hitting .468 with 11 home runs, 59 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 66 hits in 141 at-bats and has played in 39 games.
