Sharks Jolt Brisas, 5-1, with Late Rally
|
Sydney took on Buenos Aires in front of a lively crowd.
The Sydney Sharks downed the Buenos Aires Brisas, 5-1, at Estadio Rico. Stellar pitching by Jeff Bannon had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the GBC with a 1.15 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. The Sharks go to 69-92, putting them last in the GBC AfSAmOc Division.
Sydney used a timely hit from Lonny Flowers to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sharks ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I'm happy we won," said Bannon. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
