Historic Day: Baldwin Jolts 4 HR
|
Nothing could stop Ken Baldwin -- certainly not the Gillette Razors pitching staff.
The 20-year-old shortstop for the Kodak Snappers sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Conneaut College Grounds and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Snappers earned a win, 26-9, over the Razors.
"In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Razors manager Todd Domínguez said later. "He clobbered us."
Baldwin's dream game included 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 homers, 12 runs driven in and 5 runs scored.
"I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Baldwin told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys."
Ken Baldwin hit a solo-shot off Gerard Haynes in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Gerard Haynes in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Júlio Rúbio in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Mario Gabriel in the 6th, walked in the 7th, grounded out in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
Baldwin on the season is batting .462 with 6 home runs. His totals include 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has played in 6 games.
