Critchlow Strokes 5 Hits
A jubilant Joshua Critchlow joined the postgame press conference at Ballpark of Garden Grove College to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Chevron Gold pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Amoco Torch center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-7 hitting performance, which led to the 17-16 Torch win.

"He made it look easy," said Ángel Torres, manager of the Gold. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Joshua Critchlow hit a solo-shot off Domingo Enríquez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Domingo Enríquez in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Quan Bi in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, struck out in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Javier Ruíz in the 9th.

So far this season, Critchlow is hitting .396 with 9 home runs.
