Roundtree Belts 5 Hits
|
There was no storybook ending. Allen Roundtree of the Berkshire Hathaway Wolves socked it to the visiting Firestone Fires with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Wolves fell, 13-12, at Field of the Mighty Gulls.
"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Roundtree complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too."
He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Berkshire Hathaway manager Pedro Rodríguez sympathized with his third baseman, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Allen played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough."
Allen Roundtree walked in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
This year, Roundtree is batting .381 with no home runs. He has scored 8 runs and driven in 5.
