Jesús Rúbio Strokes 3 Home Runs Thursday, February 13th , 2059 Today was a special one for Jesús Rúbio of the U.S. Navy Midshipmen as he slammed three home runs in the 11-1 Midshipmen win over the U.S. Coast Guard Bears. "Lately, I've been uppercutting the ball too much," he said to sportswriters after the game. "I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark. No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The U.S. Navy first baseman collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 5, and scored 4 runs in the contest at Capital Territory Ballpark. Jesús Rúbio singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Felipe Cummings in the 3rd, walked in a run in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Roberto Swinson in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Fernando Srapionian in the 9th. For the season, Rúbio is currently batting .245 with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs. In 38 games he has reached base at a .421 rate and scored 26 runs to date. |
