Strickland Powers 3 HR Against Best Buy Sunday, February 12th , 2062 Chevrolet Chevys first baseman Kelley Strickland almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 5 runs and had 3 hits in 5 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Chevys to victory. The Best Buy Geek Squad escaped with the win, 13-10, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Strickland. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Kelley Strickland struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Lúcio Rivera in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Daniel Ibáñez in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off John Hatfield in the 7th and walked in a run in the 8th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Chevrolet manager Júlio Guerra. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Mellon League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good College Conference All-Stars hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." For the season, Strickland is currently batting .348 with 21 home runs and 53 RBIs. In 37 games he has reached base at a .447 rate and scored 41 runs to date. |
