Piñeiro Raps Chevrolet for 5 Hits
Sunday, February 26th , 2062
After a 5-hit effort to lead Marriott's 32-11 victory over the Chevrolet Chevys, right fielder Héctor Piñeiro told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the College Conference All-Stars-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Mortars Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Chevys.
"His swing is getting there," said Hops skipper Claudio Nieves, who spoke glowingly of Piñeiro after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Héctor did that to perfection."
Héctor Piñeiro struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Oliver Boone in the 5th, walked in the 6th, struck out in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off Romeu Janela in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In his season totals Piñeiro has 14 home runs and a .326 batting average.
