Chemists Win Round 1 Thursday, March 9th , 2062 The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ballpark of Stearns College as the Round 1 stretched to the final game. It was the AmGen Chemists feeling the thrill of victory, with a 2-1 win over the Apple I-Team, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 2. "There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Apple manager Paco Díaz. "Congratulations to AmGen, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight." Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was left fielder Felipe Palácios, who was named MVP. He hit .367 with a .472 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 6 runs. "We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said. The AmGen Chemists will play against the Coca-Cola Splash in the next round.
