Cowart Belts 5 Hits
Saturday, February 10th , 2063
A jubilant Keith Cowart joined the postgame press conference at Marksmen Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Lincoln Continentals pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Kellogg Tigers shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 8-7 Tigers win.
"He made it look easy," said Les Williamson, manager of the Continentals. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Keith Cowart singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season in 34 games, Cowart has hit at a .342 clip with 39 hits, no home runs, 18 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
