Newsom Stretches Hit String to 33

Everett Newsom, first baseman for the Anheiser-Busch Budweisers, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 33 games with 5 hits in his club's 25-12 victory over the Lincoln Continentals at Ballpark of Greensboro College.
"Not the outcome we wanted," Lincoln manager Les Williamson said. "There's never a good time to lose, and it's never fun to be on the wrong end of somebody else's accomplishment." Everett Newsom singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Pedro Peña in the 8th.
Newsom is currently hitting at a .393 pace with 3 home runs, 26 RBIs and has scored 50 times.
