Tully 44-Game Hitting Streak Ends
Thursday, February 15th , 2063
For once, it was the Schlitz Tallboys picking up the slack for Doug Tully.
The club's "offensive catalyst," as Schlitz manager Ismael Valéncia has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 44-game hitting streak snapped by the AmGen Chemists. Tully was bailed out by the rest of the Tallboys, however, who stopped the Chemists, 10-6.
The 19-year-old left fielder finished the day 0-for-3, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me."
"Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."
Tully is currently hitting at a .479 pace with 9 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 47 times.
