Cottam Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Sunday, February 18th , 2063
U.S. Coast Guard Bears right fielder John Cottam had a day to remember at Capital Territory Ballpark, ripping apart the Marriott Hops and sparking the 23-7 Bears win.
Cottam wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-7.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Cottam told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
John Cottam grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Dan Lacey in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
So far this season, Cottam has recorded a .400 batting average with 10 hits, 2 home runs, 16 RBIs, 11 runs scored and a .514 OBP.
