3-HR Game for Méndez Thursday, February 22nd , 2063 Gustavo Méndez brutalized the Google Searchers pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 14-4 Aflac victory at Lubbock College Grounds. The Aflac Ducks first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-3 with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Too much Gustavo Méndez today," Searchers manager Rhett Threepwood said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Gustavo Méndez walked in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Joe Hoskin in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Joe Hoskin in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Joe Hoskin in the 7th. Méndez is hitting .355 for the season with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 66 hits in 186 at-bats and played in 43 games. |
